AquaMan Sportfishing Charters offers economical Virginia Beach fishing prices for up to 20 anglers on customized fishing excursions. Prices listed are for booking the boat up to six passengers with prices for each additional from 7 up to 20 passengers.
We offer Group and Walk On Fishing Rates
We occasionally run make-up trips. This offers individuals the opportunity to fish on a private charter boat even though they do not have a full group.
These are called walk-ons. Walk-on cost is per person and is for passengers not wishing to book the boat and are willing to fish with other anglers. Make-up charters require at least 5 anglers for the trip to go. We do not add walk-ons to privately booked trips. All prices are cash discount prices (see below). Fuel surcharge may apply (see below).
Species available throughout the year on each type of trip are listed below. Actual targeted species will depend on the time of year.
Virginia Beach Inshore Fishing Trips: “along the beach”
(June 1 – Sept 30)
Inshore fishing trips are excellent for families, especially those with younger children. They are also a good choice for people interested in just spending some time on the water and/or not venturing too far from shore.
As a bonus, dolphins are usually encountered on these trips. Types of fishing include trolling artificial and live bait and chumming. Species targeted may include red drum, cobia, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, croaker, spot, false albacore and sharks.
Half Day (4 hr) – $675 up to six anglers ($75 for each additional angler)
3/4 Day (6 hr) – $975 up to six anglers ($100 for each additional angler)
Full Day (8 hr) – $1300 up to six anglers ($125 for each additional angler)
Special Evening Trip (2 hr) – $450 up to six anglers ($50 for each additional angler)
“oceanfront trolling only”
Near Shore Trips: “up to 15 miles”
(May 15 – Oct 31)
Areas fished during near shore trips may include the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (CBBT), Chesapeake Light Tower and near coastal wrecks. This is an inexpensive upgrade for those wanting to venture a little further from shore. Types of fishing include trolling artificial and live bait and chumming and bottom fishing.
The types of fish targeted may include: striped bass (rockfish), black sea bass, tautog, flounder, red drum, black drum, cobia, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, croaker, spot, spadefish, king mackerel, false albacore and sharks.
3/4 Day (6 hr) – $1125 up to six anglers ($100 for each additional angler)
Full Day (8 hr) – $1450 up to six anglers ($125 for each additional angler)
Intermediate Wreck Trips: “15 – 30 miles”
(May 15 – Dec 31)
Intermediate wreck trips mainly consist of bottom fishing on and around various wrecks. These wrecks can produce black sea bass, tautog and flounder almost year round. Type of fishing is bait fishing on the bottom.
Types of fish targeted on the bottom may include: black sea bass, tautog,
flounder, sharks and triggerfish.Full Day (10 hr) – $2100 up to six anglers ($125 for each additional angler)
Extended Day (12 hr) – $2350 up to six anglers ($150 for each additional angler)
Offshore Trolling Trips: “Over 30 miles”
(May 15 – Oct 31)
This is the ultimate trip of all. You will travel well out of site of land (50 – 70 miles) to the deep blue waters of the Gulf Stream where you will target the big boys. You will spend the day trolling the underwater canyons in search of that fish of a lifetime!
Nothing comes close to the rush that comes with that huge splash behind the boat and the sound of line screaming off your reel. You then climb into the chair and do battle with a very worthy opponent. This trip may also choose to spend time pitching live baits to hungry amberjack. This has become a favorite for many.
Types of fishing are trolling artificial and dead bait (ballyhoo) and live bait fishing. Species targeted on the troll may include: blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, big eye tuna, dolphin (mahi-mahi), wahoo, amberjack, false albacore and sharks.
Overnight trips allow you to be on the fishing grounds longer and during the prime feeding times. At night we anchor or drift while chunking. Typical nighttime encounters are tuna, dolphin and swordfish.
Offshore (12 hr) – $2950 up to six anglers ($250 for each additional angler)
Offshore (18 hr) – $3850 up to six anglers ($300 for each additional angler)
Offshore (21 hr) – $4450 up to six anglers ($350 for each additional angler)
Offshore (24 hr) – $5050 up to six anglers ($400 for each additional angler)
Offshore Deep Drop Trips: “Over 30 miles”
(May 15 – Oct 31)
This is the ultimate bottom fishing trip. As with the trolling trip, you will travel around 65 miles into the deep blue in search of the big, hungry bottom dwellers. You will spend the first part of your day fishing between 250 and 350 feet below the surface targeting jumbo black sea bass and blueline tilefish.
Later in the day you will drop your baits to depths up to 600 feet trying to lure in larger critter such as golden tilefish and snowy grouper. If you think it’s a long way down when you drop your line, wait until you battle a couple jumbo sea bass to the surface from 300 feet below. Type of fishing is bait fishing on the bottom.
Species targeted on the bottom may include: blueline tilefish, black sea bass, Golden Tilefish, wreckfish, snowy grouper and blackbelly rosefish.

Dolphin Watching and Site Seeing
(May 15 – Oct 31)
Dolphin watching is a great opportunity for anyone not interested in fishing to get out on the water. The bottle-nosed dolphins are usually easy to find and are fun to watch as they play and feed in the surf. We often encounter multiple pods and we can usually get up close and personal. Other wildlife is also abundant in the ocean and in the inlet. There are many types of birds, sea turtles and bait fishes to observe as well.
Dolphin Watching and Site Seeing (2 hr) – $500 up to six passengers ($50 for each additional passenger)
Fireworks! (July 4th)
Watching the fireworks from the water gives you a whole new perspective. With this trip, you can get closer to the action than by viewing them from the shore.
Fireworks (1hr) – $500 up to six passengers ($50 for each additional passenger)
A 50% deposit is required within two weeks of your booking to hold your charter date. The deposit will be refunded if the captain cancels the trip due to weather or sea conditions or it can be carried over if a make-up date can be arranged. The deposit will not be refunded if the customer cancels the booking within two weeks of the scheduled trip or fails to show up for the trip. All prices are cash discount prices. Credit card payments will be assessed a 5% service fee, no exceptions. Prices are valid so long as fuel prices are $4.00/gal or less. Fuel surcharge will apply only to intermediate and offshore trips and only if fuel prices rise above $4.00/gal. Surcharge will be actual cost of fuel based on 200 gallons offshore and 100 gallons intermediate.
